Antique Biot - Large

The large antique pots are called “biots”, and were originally used to store olive oil in Provence.  These date from approx. the early 19th century.  The yellow ocher glaze around the rim of the pot prevented mice and other creatures from climbing over the rim of the pot to gain access to the oil inside.
